Brief Synopsis – A group of strangers get trapped in a farmhouse when Zombies attack.

My Take on it – The problem with seeing a groundbreaking movie 46 years after it came out is that so much has evolved in the genre since that it doesn’t seem now to be as good as it was probably perceived back then.

I have only recently begun to start to watch and enjoy zombie themed movies and Tv shows, but it is by far the only kind of horror that I can stomach.

The first thing I found very interesting in this movie is the fact that one of the maon protagonists was a black man. This was very rare in the 60’s and director George Romero claims that it wasnt done on purpose, it was just that he was the best actor for the role.

I enjoyed this movie a lot, but still felt that it was far from perfect especially due to a lack of character developnent and special effects that today seem very archaic.

Bottom Line – Probably excellent when it came out, but now seems like a mild Zombie movie. Great start for the genre tho. Recommended!

Rating – Globe Worthy

  2. I’m with you on this one, Rob–I appreciate the flick and love that the main character was a kickass black dude, but I didn’t like it as much as I expected to. Uh oh…now Mutant might be coming after me, too! Gulp. Lol. Great review!
