“You and me, we’re gonna have a fight. Today. After school. Three o’clock. In the parking lot. You try and run, I’m gonna track you down. You go to a teacher, it’s only gonna get worse. You sneak home, I’m gonna be under your bed. ” – Buddy Revell
Number of Times Seen – at least 5 times (cable in the 80’s and 15 Sep 2014)
Brief Synopsis – When a school reporter is challenged to a fight by a recently transferred school bully, he must try and find a way to avoid getting beat up after the final school bell of the day.
My Take on it – I quite enjoyed revisiting this movie because the premise is an ingenius adaptation of a western shootout transplanted to a high school.
The way that the main character, Jerry spends his day trying to avoid the ultimate showdown was planned out so well that you can enjoy every scene because each one is unique and clever.
Most of the characters are the typical western stock character doppelgangers and each play their part in creating a fun spoof of the ‘normal’ western plotline.
Bottom Line – Very clever take on a western gunfight plot reimagined in high school. So many parts are put together so well that the adaptation is nearly flawless. Highly Recommended!
Rating – Oscar Worthy
