Number of Times Seen – 1 (17 Sep 2014)
Brief Synopsis – The story of a young Irish family’s struggles upon their immigration to America seen through the eyes of their ten year old daughter.
My Take on it – I had no clue as to what to expect here and was quite happy that it was very interesting story.
It is difficult for native born people to understand the difficulties that immigrants face upon their arrival in a new country. This is especially true when dealing with modern immigration issues.
The choice to use an innocent ten year old as the narrator was great because it gives a fresh, pure and magical perspective to the whole story.
There are a few scenes that move extremely slowly tho and it could have been slightly tighter in certain areas.
Bottom Line – Does a great job of making the viewer identify with the family and their difficulties. Narration by the young girl really gives an innocent and pure perspective of everything going on. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy

Paddy Considine is a favourite of mine and I’ve liked Samantha Morton ever since I saw her in an ITV series Band of Gold, in 1995.
