Day of the Dead (1985)

Day_of_the_Dead“We don’t have enough ammunition to shoot them all in the head. The time to have done that would have been in the beginning. No, we let them overrun us. We are in the minority now, something like 400,000 to one by my calculation. ” Dr. Logan

Number of Times Seen – 1 (21 Sep 2014)

Brief Synopsis – A group of scientists and soldiers hiding out in an underground bunker must fend off an attack by zombies.

My Take on it – This is clearly the weakest of the three movies in George Romero’s ‘dead’ trilogy brcause of both of tone and the characters.

None of the characters are developed enough for us to care about them and to me the connection to them is what makes these kind of movies interesting.

I liked the opposing views of the two factions with regards to how to deal with the ever-expanding zombie attacks and that conflict helped keep it interesting.

The gore is on a higher level than the previous ones in the series and for those seeking that in a movie, you wont be disappointed.

I wanted to like this more, but it just wasn’t as good as the two previous ones.

Bottom Line – The weakest of the ‘dead’ trilogy. Not enough character development to make me care about the characters at all. Gruesome deads abound tho!

Rating – BAFTA Worthy
