Tom chose a great genre for this month’s Genre Grandeur which is very dear to my heart.
Here is my first (of at least 4 if not more) review for this month’s Genre Grandeur.
Next month’s genre will be biographical movies, do please send me your reviews to firstname.lastname@example.org by 25th October and I’ll post it.
“There’s a total and complete silence in that beautiful view and the realization, of course, that you’re going 25,000 miles an hour.” – Russell Schweickart
Number of Times Seen – 1 (28 Sep 2014)
Brief Synopsis – A documentary that shows the journey of a spacecraft to the moon while using real footage from the Apollo lunar missions
My Take on it – I have always been a fan of the space program and to see the way this movie was edited by using all of the 9 missions as a basis was amazing.
Hearing the voices of the real astronauts and controllers via the archive footage was great and it really put perspective on what was truly happening during those journeys to and from the moon.
For anyone interested in hearing about the lunar missions first hand from the astronauts themselves as it was happening, this movie is a real treat.
Bottom Line – Great editing makes this movie quite enjoyable as it skillfully merges real footage from NASA’s missions to tell the complete tale of the journey traveled by just 24 men to the moon and back again. Highly recommended!
Rating – Oscar Worthy
