“You have no idea what men of power can do! ” – Scott Pritchard
Number of Times Seen – At least 5 times (Theater in 1987, cable, video and 23 Oct 2014)
Brief Synopsis – A US naval intelligence officer is thrust into a world of international espionage and murder when he starts a new job working for the Secretary of Defense.
My Take on it – This is a great thriller that helped propel Kevin Costner to stardom.
The many twists and turns here make this a very engaging and fun movie full of a lot of political intrigue.
The problem with this movie was the fact that upon rewatching this movie, a lot of the twists aren’t as powerful once you know them already.
The supporting cast of Gene Hackman, Sean Young and Will Patton are also great in their roles.
Great precursor to many of the political thriller movies and novels of the 90’s.
Bottom Line – Great thriller that helped make Costner a star. The twists and turns here are great to watch, but loses some of its impact once you already know what happens upon subsequent viewings. Great supporting cast. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy
