“We’ve been through hell together! We spent four years, FOUR YEARS fighting that virus, and then another four fighting each other! It was chaos!… But you all know what we’re up against! And I want you to know, it’s not just about power! It’s about giving us the hope to rebuild, to reclaim the world we lost! ” – Dreyfus
Number of Times Seen – 1 (29 Oct 2014)
Brief Synopsis – In the aftermath of the virus that affected most of humankind, a small band of survivors meet up with the genetically changed apes which leads to arguments on both sides of whether to live peacefully together or not.
My Take on it – This is a rare kind of sequel because it takes place ten years after the previous movie and the only recurring characters are not human beings.
We get a brief history of the ten ensuing years, but quickly understand the changes in the world since the last movie.
The infighting between both groups is great because it shows how both sides are similar to the way they react to the other one.
Both sides have suffered much and want to find a way to live peacefully, but the question constantly remains as to what peacefully means.
I have always been a fan of Jason Clarke since he was on the short-lived TV show The Chicago Code a few years ago and he is great as the lead actor here.
The special effects once again are excellent and we can truly believe that the apes on the screen are real eventhough they are not.
They interact with each other and with the humans in such ways that it leaves your jaw hanging out because this is movie magic.
Can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in the next movie that is planned for 2 summers from now!
Bottom Line – Love the direction this franchise is going towards. Once again amazing special effects that allow us to believe that these apes really exist. Highly Recommended!
Rating – Oscar Worthy

Great review! I am so glad you liked this. I thought it was excellent, and that CGI was amazing, and solid performances all round. I wish Oldman had been used more, but besides that, no gripes!

Yeah it would have been even better if it was longer.
