Frontera (2014)

Number of Times Seen – 1 (16 Nov 2014)

Brief Synopsis – When a tragedy happens on his farm land, a former sheriff tries to figure out what really happened despite the current sheriff’s insistence that he’s wrong.

My Take on it – This movie tries to show the viewer many of the problems faced by all those involved living near the US-Mexican border.

The corrupt outnumber the normal innocents and it’s always an uphill battle to get along with life peacefully.

I liked how this felt realistic in its portrayal of the difficulties faced by all who live near the border.

Ed Harris is great as usual and along witg his real life wife, Amy Madigan, Michael Pena and Eva Longoria, the entire main cast is pretty good.

The storyline wanders a few time into very preachy territory, but ultimately it gets back on track to give us a reason for hope that one day things will get better in that region

Bottom Line – A pretty good modern western. All 4 of the main actors do a pretty good job. Slightly preachy, but still enjoyable. Recommended!

Rating – Globe Worthy
