Genre Guesstimation – Lone Wolf McQuade (1983)

The idea behind this new feature (Genre Guesstimation) is for me to watch a bunch of new movies from the chosen monthly GG genre in order to expand my knowledge of movies within that particular genre.

Let’s see if I felt that this movie would be worthy of being in the company of my others favorite movies in the genre of 80’s action movies…

LoneWolfMcQuade“My kind of trouble doesn’t take vacations. ” – JJ McQuade

Number of Times Seen – at least 5 times (Cable in the 80’s and 17 Nov 2014)

Brief Synopsis – A Texas Ranger who does things his own way takes on a drug and gun smuggler by taking the law into his own hands.

My Take on it – As a kid, I recall really enjoying this movie.

Having rewatched it, I can’t for the life of me understand why.

The plot is so stupid, the fight scenes are laughable (even for two martial arts experts like Keith Carradine and Chuck Norris), the love triangle just doesn’t work in any way possible and the acting is horrendous.

I’m not sure why anyone who sees this would think that Norris knows how to act 🙂

Guess once again my memories are playing tricks on me.

Bottom Line – Silly plot, stupid fight scenes and this is proof that Norris isn’t much of an actor.  I have no clue as to why I liked this as a kid.

Genre Grandeur Worthy? – Not in the least. I can’t understand why I liked this as a kid and had memories of it being fun.

Rating – Razzie Worthy
