“If you want love, then this is it. This is real life. It’s not perfect but it’s real.” – Jesse
Number of Times Seen – 1 (18 Nov 2014)
Brief Synopsis – Once again we pick up with the lives of Jesse and Celine 9 years after their previous meeting and 18 years following their initial encounter this time in Greece.
My Take on it – I was quite skeptical that this premise would work when I viewed the original, but now two sequels along, I must admit that I really enjoy visiting these characters and learning where nine years have taken them in between our encounters with them.
Director Richard Linklater and actors Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy do a wonderous job of continuing the story of these two accidental lovers.
I wasnt sure how and where they would decide to have the characters meet this time that would be believable, but it was done in a way that I wouldn’t have expected and was once again unique.
The script is great and the conversations seem to flow very believably and equal if not slightly surpass the previous two scripts.
I wonder if they plan on doing this again in 2022.
I sure hope so.
Bottom Line – Once again the trio of Linklater, Hawke and Delpy give us an interesting and entertaining peak into a relationship and its evolution over the years. Great script that equals both previous ones. Highly recommended!
Rating – Oscar Worthy

For some reason I just have never found this trilogy to jump out at me. After seeing Boyhood earlier this year, though, I think my eagerness to discover this story has jumped up a notch. Nice work Rob, it’d be interesting to see if they do indeed make another down the road!

I recommend you give these a try if you liked Boyhood, Tom. 🙂
Glad I got you to watch all three of these, Rob! This was also good but my least favorite of the three.

Hard to decide which I liked better or worse, because I liked all 3. Thanks again for the encouragement to finally see the trilogy
