Brief Synopsis – Andy’s toys must find a way to rescue Woody from a greedy toy collector.
My Take on it – After Pixar hit it big with the original Toy Story (1995), the decided to make a straight to video sequel (which was a popular Disney ploy at the time) once again featuring our favorite toy characters.
When the realized that they once again had a gold standard story on their hands, they decided that it was more fitting to be a theatrical release.
Boy were they happy that they did so.
The animation techniques are superior than in the original and this movie was even able to win the Golden Globe for best picture – comedy/musical.
The plot is better than the original and we are introduced to some great new characters.
Our favorite characters from the original are also back for more fun and it’s always a pleasure to revisit them.
Bottom Line – Amazing sequel that was even able to win Best Comedy/Musical at the Golden Globes paving the way for even more animated wins during Award season. Always great to revisit our ‘toy’ friends. Excellent script and plot that in some ways tops the original. Highly recommended!
Rating – Oscar Worthy (no change from original review)
