Brief Synopsis – The Dwarves and Bilbo continue their quest and encounter Elves and Smaug the Dragon along the way

My Take on it – Peter Jackson and the effects teams at WETA are experts at creating breathtaking action scenes and visuals and the ones in this movie are done extremely well.

The problem I have with this movie is the pacing. There are certain scenes that move fast and others that slow down to a point where it borders on boredom.

The scenes with Smaug are amazing. Its unbelievable what technology can do!

This movie could have been trimmed down and it would have been tighter.

Despite this movie being done well overall, I still question the fact of splitting this into three parts instead of two.

Truth is it doesnt really matter anymore but I believe that had they done it in two parts, it would have been a tighter and better franchise.

Bottom Line – Has some great action scenes and amazing special effects, but once they get to Laketown things slow down too much. The effects ts used to create Smaug are amazing. Still done very well, but could have been much better. Recommended!

Rating – Globe Worthy (lowered from original review)
