“I remember seeing a condom; I just don’t know exactly what it did. ” – Donna
Number of Times Seen – 1 (22 Jan 2015)
Brief Synopsis – After a one night stand, a comedienne accidentally gets pregnant and must figure out how to deal with it.
My Take on it – I heard about this movie a few months ago and was excited to finally see it because I expected a laugh out loud movie that deals with serious subjects.
Yes, this movie does deal with serious subjects, but the stand-up presented just doesn’t stand up to scrutiny and just isn’t very funny in and of itself.
I’m aware that this movie is not meant as a comedy, but when presenting a movie with the lead character being a stand-up comedienne, one should expect at least a few laughs and not just jokes about farting.
The discussions about abortions, single motherhood and other life changing events are presented well and therefore this movie isn’t a complete miss.
I think that star Jenny Slate was very good and she has a bright future ahead of her and with a better script this movie could have been much better than average.
Bottom Line – Not as funny as I expected. Poignant discussions about life and how things affect us all. Could have been much more enjoyable to watch.
Rating – BAFTA Worthy

One of my favorites of the year because it absolutely surprised me on just about every level. Need more of these, really. Good review.
