Number of Times Seen – Between 5-10 times (Theater in 1985, cable, video and 28 Jan 2015)
Brief Synopsis – A group of senior citizens accidently find a swimming pool filled with alien cocoons that starts to rejuvinste them and make them act and feel much younger.
My Take on it – I remember seeing this in the theater in ’85 and I’m sure I didnt appreciate it as much at the age of 11 as I can now at 41.
This is truly a feel good movie that might take its message sometimes to the extreme, but the idea to live life to the fullest resonates throughout.
The cast is great and im still mesmerized at how young the elderly actors acted. Im sure nunerous scenes used special effects, but even if they did, it seemlessly makes us believe that Hume Cronyn, Don Ameche (who won a best supporting actor oscar for this role) and Wilfred Brimley have much more agility and stamina than they probably had at the time.
Brimley himself was only 50 when they made the movie, but I’d be so impressed if in ten years, I’ll still be able to move the way he did.
Great supporting roles by Steve Guttenberg, Brian Dennehy, Jessica Tandy and Maureen Stapleton.
Bottom Line – Very good feel good type of movie that helps everyone think about finding ways to live life to the fullest no matter how old you are. Great cast. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy
