Jumanji (1995)

jumanji“[to Van Pelt, who is purchasing a new gun] You’re not a postal worker, are you? ” – Gun Salesman

Number of Times Seen – between 3-5 times  (Theater in ’95, video and 9 Feb 2015)

Brief Synopsis – Two children find a mysterious board game and realize once they start playing how real it gets.

My Take on it – After Spielberg proved how advanced special effects had become after making Jurassic Park (1993), movie makers were able to let their imaginations run wild with creatures and it would still look realistic.

This was one of the first movies to fully utilize this new form of special effects and was able to successfully integrate so many creatures into the movie for the characters to interact with.

As always, Robin Williams was able to take this movie to a higher level with his unique and wild performance as the main character.

Definitely a fun movie to watch and enjoy.

Bottom Line – Fun movie to watch. Williams is wild and crazy as usual. Great special effects that are integrated perfectly into the story. Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Robin Williams admitted that he did not need to act startled for the scene where Van Pelt is shooting at him, as the blank gunfire was extremely loud on-set.   (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy
