Brief Synopsis – In a pseudo sequel to Jumanji (1995), two boys find a mysterious boardgame that once they begin to play, it takes them and their house to the far reaches of space where they have to play their way back home.
My Take on it – I actually am very conflicted with my feelings towards this movie.
On the one hand, I thought it was a great idea and concept that had so much potential.
But on the other hand, knowing that this is a pseudo sequel to Jumanji (1995), all of the uniqueness and originality are completely ruined.
Had this been a complete stand alone movie it could have worked really well, but instead we are left with a movie that hasn’t decided whether it wants to be a remake, a reboot or a sequel.
I actually liked the child actors in this one better than in the original.
Bottom Line – Would have been much better had they never made Jumanji (1995). It just felt too similar to the original and lacked anything unique or original to make it more enjoyable.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Kristen Stewart admitted she was disturbed to see the life-size replica made of her for the scenes where Lisa is frozen. This is the first of two life size replicas of Kristen Stewart, the second will appear later in the Twilight saga breaking dawn part 1. Which she slapped in the face while taking a photo with it.
