“I always say, better ask forgiveness than permission. ” – Brom
Number of Times Seen – 2 (6 Jul 2008 and 4 Mar 2015)
Brief Synopsis – After a young boy finds a mysterious egg, he must go on a quest to save his homeland.
My Take on it – As a kid, I was extremely fascinated with medieval stories and games like dungeons and dragon, so I always have had a soft spot for movies in this genre.
When I originally saw this, I had no clue what it was about or even if I’d enjoy it, but both times I was drawn in and didn’t want to leave the world we were brought to on screen.
Knowing that this is the only part of the series that will be filmed is extremely disappointing because I would have loved to see where this story can go.
I guess the best way to do so will be to eventually read the books since I’ve heard that the tale truly is fascinating in its entirety.
Loved the special effects. They did such a wonderful job here with them.
Bottom Line – Very enjoyable medieval tale. Characters are interesting. Wish that this movie had done better and made more money so they would have adapted more of the books in the series. Guess I’ll have to read the books one of these days since I’ve heard that they are even better than the movie. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The film was advertised as “The First Chapter in the Inheritance Trilogy”. At this time, the second story, “Eldest” had been published, but the third book was neither published nor named. The October after this film was released, book author Christopher Paolini announced that the final book would be split in two, making the Inheritance Trilogy the “Inheritance Cycle”. (The final two books were named Brisingr and Inheritance.) (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy

Yes, duress?
“under duress” it means “under pressure”. If I watched this movie under duress it means someone forced me too lol.

This is one of those few films that I had already read the books for, and despite the backlash from a lot of the books’ fans, I enjoyed it too and placed it on my film list. The books are definitely worth reading, though the last one could have ended better. They do require a big time commitment, though, depending on how fast you read. 🙂
