“Ah, I thought we might hit this little snag. You seem to be laboring under the delusion that I am going to – what is the phrase? – come quietly. ” – Dumbledore
Number of Times Seen – 2 (26 Jul 2007 and 13 Apr 2015)
Brief Synopsis – At the beginning of his 5th year at Hogwarts, Harry and his friends decide to become proactive in trying to defeat the enemy by readying themselves for confrontations with the evil forces while at the same time they become targets of the Wizard ministry who don’t believe that the enemy has returned
My Take on it – This is yet another movie in the series that I enjoyed a lot before reading the book, but got a much better understanding once I had finally read it.
The story continue to build up the suspense-fulness of the forces of good as they ready themselves for the fight against the evil side while dealing with bureaucrats who don’t believe that any danger is in store.
The book is one of the longest ones and lots and lots of exposition are excised from the movie but having read them, there is a much better understanding if you have also read the book.
I like how we got to know more students of Hogwarts that would help in the fight later on.
The fight in the Ministry in the end shows us how much they have all grown in maturity and power since the first movie, just a few years earlier.
Umbridge is so terrible, but is still a great character.
Bottom Line – Continues in the flow of the previous film and gives us a great feeling because we know that the storyline is still building up slowly and gives us lots of great plot lines that will be explored further in the following chapters. Like most of the movies, this one also loses much of the exposition of the book, but gives us a great new chapter in the series. Highly Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Emma Watson was seriously thinking whether or not to keep acting in the film franchise after The Order of the Phoenix (2007). But decided to stay after considering that it would be uncomfortable to watch the films being made with someone else as Hermione. (From IMDB)
Rating – Oscar Worthy

This isn’t up there with my favourite Harry Potter films but it’s still pretty great. Glad Emma Watson decided to stay with the franchise. Great post Rob.

Tnx. The book is so much better, but there is definitely something to see it with my eyes instead of just my mind 😉

I appreciate this movie with every additional viewing. The first time I saw this, I thought it was already a book that couldn’t hold up an entire movie mostly because its all about bridging the 4th to the 6th. But then, in the bigger picture, it was needed. Its definitely one where reading the book helps appreciate and understand it more 🙂
