Maps to the Stars (2014)

maps-to-the-stars-movie-poster“[Dancing] Na-na-na-na! Na-na-na-na! Hey-hey-hey! Goodbye! Sing it! ” – Havana

Number of Times Seen – 1 (6 May 2015)

Brief Synopsis – A number of seemingly divergent stories of people related to the film industry are brought together when a mysterious girl gets off the bus from far away Florida

My Take on it – I had heard rave reviews of this movie and have been intrigued to see what they were referring to for months.

I am now completely disappointed that this is what I was curious to see.

Most of the scenes portraying Hollywood actors just felt too over the top and I hoped that they would at some point tone it down, but instead it got worse and worse.

The rest if it, just felt too predictable too early and I can’t say I was too surprised at what would happen.

The characters are all so unlikeable that I didn’t care at all what would happen to any of them and just wanted this to end.

Bottom Line – Parts were extremely predictable and the other ones completely over the top. None of the characters are likeable enough for us to want to keep watching. Skip it!!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In an almost 50-year career, this was the very first time that David Cronenberg ever filmed anything in the United States (his previous movies were mostly shot in Canada or the UK). The film shot for 5 days in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills (location manager Scott Trimble) and 24 days in Cronenberg’s native Toronto (location manager Marty Dejczak). (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy
