“You must be the short depressed kid we ordered. ” – Tripper
Number of Times Seen – at least 10 times (cable, DVD and 6 May 2015)
Brief Synopsis – The hilarity and hi-jinx of summer camp are explored by the counselors , c.i.t.’s and campers at a typical summer camp.
My Take on it – As a kid, I spent numerous summers at different summer camps filling the role of first a camper and years layer as a counselor.
All those summers were fun, but nowhere near what this movie envisions.
Supposedly many of the scenes are compositions of real events that happened to the cast and crew.
Regardless of whether this is true or not doesn’t matter because it really is a journey of hi-jinx over that one summer.
This is truly the movie collaboration between Ivan Reitman, Harold Ramis and Bill Murray that put them all on the map for years to come.
This doesn’t have the greatest of plots, but the fact that there are so many hilarious scenes make this a movie hard ro not love in all its weirdness.
The soundtrack is amazing with the tunes being extremely catchy.
Here are two examples of the great songs in this movie.
Bottom Line – Such a great nostalgic look at summer camp. This is the movie that put Ramis, Reitman and Murray on the map. So many hilarious scenes make it difficult not to love this quirky comedy. Songs are very catchy too. Highly recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The cast and crew have never reunited. In June 2014, after 35 yrs, they will be doing so in benefit of the humanitarian charity Action Against Hunger Canada. (From IMDB)
Rating – Oscar Worthy
