Number of Times Seen – 1 (17 May 2015)
Brief Synopsis – A group of friends come across plans that explain how to build a time machine and try to change the past for the better resulting in complications they never expected.
My Take on it – I have always been a big fan of time travel movies and was excited when I heard the premise of this movie.
The storyline feels quite solid but all is hampered by the idea to make this movie one dealing with ‘found footage’ instead of leaving it as a straight story. ‘Found footage’ is suppose to make a movie feel more realistic, but in this case it has the opposite effect.
There are a few uneven scenes that detract from the realism of this movie, but other scenes are great and help make this feel even more realistic within the realm of a time travel flick.
I really liked how they didn’t bog us down with too much scientific jargon or explanations of how it all works but rathrr let us enjoy the story as is.
Bottom Line – Great premise for a time travel movie that loses a lot of its impact due to the whole ‘found footage’ angle. Certain parts are much more realistic than others but overall works well within the genre. Liked how the left most of the science ambiguous and also didn’t fall into the trap if using too much scientific jargon. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In one scene, one of the group is attempting to connect two power cables together in order to make the time travel machine work, but he states that they’re not long enough and therefore don’t reach. This is a possible nod to Back To The Future where Doc is trying to connect two power cables together but they don’t reach because one is snagged on a tree branch. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy
