Number of movies seen from this year – 121
Number of movies reviewed – 118 (Including 11 Encore Reviews)
This year’s list will probably shock many of you because it is headed by 2 amazing, but somewhat obscure movies that most of you probably haven’t seen. Both of them were life changers for me personally and give me added optimism when I feel down.
This list also features 4 sci-fi fantasy blockbusters that you all have heard of and have probably seen multiple times.
My #3 pick is the movie that I think should have won Best Picture at the Oscars instead of the mess that was called Chicago. It is such an emotional roller-coaster ride and is held together by a completely unknown actor (at the time)
The list also features an amazing Foreign Film (#6), another post 9/11 emotional story (#9) and a fun Alexander Payne feature starring Jack (#10)
Update Jul 2016 – We Were Soldiers is added at #8, pushing two films up and the previous #10 to honorable mention
Honorable Mention – About Schmidt
9. Minority Report
8. We Were Soldiers
5. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
4. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones3. The Pianist
1. The Rookie

Excellent choices, Rob. Count of Monte Cristo and Treasure Planet were good that year too.
I’m surprised Solaris didn’t place. 😉

Not the biggest fan of TP, but I’ve seen CMC twice and enjoyed it. Solaris is waaaay down at the bottom 🙂

The ’00s are a time in which I saw few films and this year is no exception. I did see your number 8-4, though. City of God is easily my favorite amongst them.

What’s 9/11 and The Rookie? Also completely agree about The Pianist over Chicago but I’ve stopped giving The Oscars any sort of actual attention as their decisions are so bizarre so,etimes.

Very true Ben. I still watch just for the fun of it. 9-11 is a documentary of what hapoened during the attacks. It was filmed by accident and is truly amazing. The rookie is a true story of the oldest rookie to play in the majors. Its a very personal movie for me. U can read my non spoiler reviews of both to get a better idea if u want
