Tnx Reut!

The_Big_Lebowski“You know, Dude, I myself dabbled in pacifism once. Not in ‘Nam of course. ” – Walter

Number of Times Seen – at least 5 times (Theater in ’98, video, DVD and 18 May 2015)

Brief Synopsis – A case of mistaken identity and a soiled carpet lead to much confusion when a seemingly simple kidnapping goes awry.

My Take on it – Ever since I saw Fargo (1996) I have been a big fan of the Coen Brothers’ movies.

They know how to tell a great story, create interesting and unique characters and keep the action constantly in motion.

They also are very adept at adding humorous scenes in the midst of serious plots.

This movie has an all-star cast led by Jeff Bridges and John Goodman, but the superb script and dialogue is what helps them all shine throughout.

Fargo (1996) is better but this is a close second as one of the best movies so far to come from the minds of the Coen Brothers.

Bottom Line – The Coen Brothers once again weave a great tale of bumbling criminals. The whole cast is excellent mainly due to the superb script and dialogue. Not as great as Fargo (1996), but still one of the best from them so far. Highly recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – While being a member of the bowling team, the Dude is the only one never seen bowling throughout the movie. (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy

  2. I just watched this for the first time ever today! It wasn’t well-recieved when it was first released but is now considered a classic. Interestingly I wasn’t all that impressed with it to be honest but I’m holding onto it and I’ll watch again in a couple of years or so just to see if my opinion changes.

  3. Most film fans go through their “dude abides” phase!

“yeah well…that’s just like….your opinion man” – BEST COMEBACK EVER!

I also love the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman in this 🙂
