Number of Times Seen – 1 (26 May 2015)
Brief Synopsis – Teenage superhero Kick-Ass joins together with a group of new vigilante superheroes inspired by his actions from the previous movie in order to stop crime in the city.
My Take on it –I’m a huge advocate for innovative and original movies and that Hollywood should stop making endless sequels and remakes.
This movie is a perfect example as to why that kind of thinking is correct.
This movie just isn’t anywhere near as good as the first one was and it felt as if it was just copying so many other superhero movies with the way its over-the-top plot kept getting crazier and crazier.
It also ventured into some very dark and grotesque material just for a laugh and it was just too much.
I liked some of the new characters introduced, but some of the other characters were added just as a joke (I hope) because it just seemed too far-fetched a coincidence for those characters to be there.
I really hope that a lesson was learned with this movie and that there are no plays for a third movie in the series because I wouldn’t have high hopes of it being entertaining at all since this one barely was.
Bottom Line – Not as good as the first one and it journeyed into some very dark and grotesque territory. Not as good as the original despite introducing a lot of new and interesting characters. Let’s hope that this is the final movie in the series because it’s time to say “when” before it’s too late.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The lines “Try to have fun, otherwise, what’s the point?” and “Yeah, there’s a dog on your balls!” were both improvised by Jim Carrey. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy
