Temporal Top Ten – 2000

Number of movies reviewed – 124 (Including 19 Encore Reviews)

This was such a great year for movies and of my top ten, I saw all but #9 and #7 in the theater.

Just like with the Oscars that year, I had a lot of trouble deciding who to crown #1 because there are so many great movies to choose from, it’s hard to decide on the best.

The Oscars went with Gladiator over Traffic, Erin Brockovich, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Chocolate.

Only 2 (#3 and #8) of those make my list and it is easy to see which one I liked better that year.  The other 3 weren’t that amazing IMHO.

My eventual #1 goes to the movie of this year which I think stands up the best over time.  It is led by an amazing performance by an exceptional actor and is a heartwarming adventure story that is so layered.

My #2 is one of the best movies of it’s genre because of it’s originality and despite what many people think, I truly believe it’s the best that that particular director has given us so far.

#4 is an amazing film that was a preview to us all as to what to expect from one of the best directors of our time (the unexpected of course)

#10 is a big budget action movie about honor and duty that really gets me emotionally every time despite my dislike of the actor who ranted too much and has made himself virtually irrelevant.

The rest of my list is mainly movies that many of you probably haven’t seen or even heard of #5 and #6 are two of my favorite political thrillers (one based on actual events and one fictional)

#7 is a very emotional documentary that was made at the right time in order to get as many real testimonials as possible.

and #9 is a guilty pleasure of mine because it’s about about time travel and a mystery all tied together.
