Number of Times Seen – 1 (1 Jun 2015)
Brief Synopsis – Once again, the wrong people mess with Liam Neeson and he (obviously) makes them pay for it.
My Take on it – I’m still baffled why people love going to see sequel upon sequel from franchises that just copy the original idea and tweak it a bit.
It’s rare that a sequel from one of these generic kind of movies actually works as well as the original.
…And this is by no means an exception.
If you’ve seen the first, second or both of the other movies in the series, you pretty much know what to expect from this movie because it’s almost the exact same kind of plot and they decided to replace originality with what has worked for them beforehand.
Despite having a budding career as a real leading man earlier in his career, Leeson has placed himself in a niche over the last decade playing a similar character in numerous movies and he has made it all feel so generic.
This is a movie that delivers what you would expect it to, but not much more.
Look out for Taken 4 with Liam Neeson in a few short years 🙂
Bottom Line – More or less the same as to be expected from this franchise. Nothing really original here tho. Neeson has painted himself in the corner with this kind of role and now it all seems so generic. Entertainment that gives you exactly what you expect but nothing more.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Star Liam Neeson stated on 28th September 2012 that there would not be a Taken 3 (2014). In February 2013, he continued with his position saying “I don’t think there’ll be a Taken 3. She can’t get taken again, that’s just bad parenting.” (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy
