Brief Synopsis – As the Earth is slowly dying, a team of astronauts are sent are a risky mission to find a new home for the population.

My Take on it – For the last 15 years, Christopher Nolan has been entertaining us all with his ability to create amazing storylines and environments that constantly fascinate the movie going public.

This movie is no exception to that rule and we are treated to an unbelievable science fiction story that takes place not so far off in the near future.

He has taken a story about love, duty, commitment, heroism, philosophy and quick decision making and created a near masterpiece of a movie.

We are treated to thrilling scenes and heartfelt moments integrated into a story with a focus on love and sacrifice and how our decisions effect our entire lives.

The questions raised here will continue to be debated for years to come because they are both simple and complex all at once.

The pacing of the plot is great and there were only a few instances of lulls in the story during the near 3 hour runtime.

Due to his knack for telling great tales, he once again manages to get an A-list cast led phenomenally by Matthew McConaughey.

The one drawback of thid movie is that it was made to be seen in a theater environment and watching it at home doesn’t have the same impact.

It us still one of my favorite movies of 2014 because it is done so incredibly.

Let’s hope thay Nolan continues to keep making incredible and entertaining movies for us for many years to come!

Bottom Line – Nolan once again gives us one of his best efforts combining science fiction and philosophy that manages to give us thrilling scenes but also ones that will leave you to contemplate for a long time afterwards. Amazing cast with a very imaginative storyline that keep you interested the whole time eventhough its close to 3 hours long. Made to be seen on the big screen to give off the grandiose feeling which is slightly lost on the small screen. Still one of my top 3 favorites of 2014. Highly recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Until post production was complete, Matthew McConaughey did not even reveal the plot of the film to his wife Camila Alves. (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (no change from original review)

  4. This movie is incredible until the final moments that try to be much cleverer than is necessary. I don’t think it’s effective as it wants to be unfortunately. If you could end with Mconaughy entering the black hole and then credits, I’d be much happier.
