The Parallex View (1974)

Parallax_View_movie_poster“We’re in the business of reporting the news, not creating it. ” – Bill

Number of Times Seen – 2 (1999 on cable and 7 Jul 2015)

Brief Synopsis – An investigative reporter gets into deep trouble while trying to figure out if a Senator’s assassination was the work of a lone gunman or a conspiracy.

My Take on it – Anyone who follows my taste in movies, knows that I’m a real sucker for a good conspiracy theory movie.

This movie plays on many of the sentiments of the 70’s following the two Kennedy assassinations the previous decade. They construct a very interesting and gritty look at possible political conspiracies and the potential cover ups involved in the aftermaths.

There is so much going on in front of and behind the scenes in this movie that even if you pay full attention the whole tine, you’re gonna mull the plot over and over in your head for a while afterwards.

The plot structure is very anti – Hollywood which allows them to do some really crazy things that work extremely well.

Warren Beatty is a bit unbelievable in the title role, but regardless, he still is ok most of the time.

Bottom Line – Very good conspiracy theory themed movie that leaves you mulling everything over for a long time after its over. It truly pays to make sure you follow everything very carefully otherwise you might miss important details. Very gritty and non-Hollywoody. Beatty feels miscast but still manages to squeak by. Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The opening sequence was designed to mirror that of Robert F. Kennedy’s 1968 assassination.  (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy

  1. Interesting…never heard of this…! I wish Netflix would have a vintage films section. I should check to see if there’s a rare/vintage video rental place where I’m moving to!
