Jurassic World (2015)

“A promise tomorrow is worth a lot less than trying today.” – Karenjurassic world

Number of Times Seen – 1 (12 Jul 2015)

Brief Synopsis – Twenty years after the events of the Original movie, two boys travel to visit their aunt who is the administrator at the new ‘Dinosaur Park’ and it’s quickly revealed that no lessons were learned from the past.

My Take on it – Certain movies are highly anticipated for years, but everyone deep down know that it won’t be as groundbreaking as hopes could expect.

Basically, this movie delivers everything one expects from it and it does so very well.

The thrills are delivered in a big way trying to be grander than the previous installments of the franchise.  Sometimes succeeding but not always.

The message about the dangers of “tampering with nature” is in the forefront and are obviously ignored (as would be expected in a movie like this) 🙂

The special effects are unbelievably done and the dinosaurs look even more real than ever before.

The main problem with this movie is that it is missing an important component that helped make the original such a powerful and incredible movie to watch and that’s the magic and wonder.

The story itself is ok, but it isn’t overly cerebral.

This is a great popcorn movie!

Bottom Line – Exactly what I expected from this movie is delivered impeccably; great thrills, philosophical messages not heeded to and some amazingly created special effects that give us very real looking dinosaurs. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have the magic and wonder of the original to make it even better. Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – There is a statue of the character John Hammond, the founder of the InGen genetic company and Jurassic Park. Colin Trevorrow explained this is to specifically honor Sir Richard Attenborough who played the role in Jurassic Park (1993) & The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997). Attenborough had spoken in the past of possibly making another appearance in the franchise but his failing health made it highly uncertain. Unfortunately, Attenborough passed away August 24th, 2014. Hammond is implied to have died prior to the events of the movie, evidently writing Attenborough’s death into the franchise as well.  (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy
