Red Dawn (2012)

rd“Marines don’t die, they go to hell and regroup.- Jed

Number of Times Seen – 2 (19 Feb 2013 and 16 Jul 2015)

Brief Synopsis – After Korean soldiers invade the Pacific Northwest, a group of teenagers led by a Gulf War veteran try to stop them.

My Take on it – I have always been an advocate against remaking movies that work well, but Hollywood seems to think that even if the movies are worthless, they can still make money on name recognition alone.

This movie is a perfect example of that.

It doesn’t add anything new to the plotline and journey that the characters follow in the original 1984 version.

One of the reasons the original worked so well was because of the inherent Cold War mentality at the time that helped us believe the scenario.

Using today’s equivalents of The 80’s Brat Pack was a smart idea that unfortunately failed miserably.

This movie is a complete waste of time and money.

Bottom Line – Terrible remake that doesn’t do the original ANY justice what so ever and is a complete waste of everyone’s time. Lacks the Cold War mentality to help it work much better. Even with fresh young actors this just doesn’t work at all. Skip it!
