Growing up with 4 older sisters (and 2 older brothers) all within a ten year age span, you can imagine that even with 3 TV’s, we all quite often needed to compromise and watch things we normally wouldn’t care for.
I recall knowing much more about the soap opera Guiding Light than I really would care to remember and let’s not get started on Dallas and Falcon Crest. 🙂
In 1987, (when I was 13), a movie came out that changed the way many girls viewed movies and “hunk” Patrick Swayze at the same time.
My sisters would constantly watch this movie whenever it was on cable and once they bought it on video….I gotta say that I’m surprised that they didn’t wear out the tape due to excessive use.
So basically, I was subjected to watching this movie sooooooooooooo many times and there was even a time when I knew most of the scenes by heart.
I actually thought the story itself was unimpressive but loved the music and of course the final musical scene.
I must say that I can’t 100% understand the draw that this movie had for teenaged girls in the 80’s and 90’s, but then again I’m sure it works the same way for them when it comes to action flicks from that era.
Guess it’s a gender thing…
When I rewatched this almost two years ago, I was amazed that I knew all the songs by heart despite not having seen the movie or heard the songs for nearly a decade.
(Just so you know, I’m not humming the song Time of Your Life as I write this and will probably continue doing so most of today.) 🙂
Girls love it because girls are idiots. Lol! (I might get in trouble for that….) 😉 It’s okay since I’m a girl! I just have to admit this one is pretty stupid. Even if I may have watched it several times at the time. 😉 But give me Aliens instead!!!!

Now I’m a girl and I enjoy musicals, yet I’m not big on chick flicks. But hey…”Nobody puts Baby in the corner!” 😉

So there’s really no comprehensible reason for people loving this thing???

I don’t know. I’m just always happy to see it. Maybe its the chemistry or just Patrick Swayze? Haha!

This movie is so lame but I do have fond memories of seeing it at the drive-in in 1987… when I was 6.
