Just Go With It (2011)

just go with it“Mom, before we go can I make a Devlin? ” – Michael

Number of Times Seen – 1 (18 Aug 2015)

Brief Synopsis – A successful plastic surgeon convinces his assistant to pose as his soon to be ex wife in order to get the girl of his dreams.

My Take on it – Last week, Ryan of tenstarsorless.com chose this movie as his ‘Joy’ pick for his entry in Connor’s Film Emotions Blogathon which intrigued me to check it out.

I have never been much of an Adam Sandler fan and generally do my best to avoid his kind of movies.

I went into this one with very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised that this one actually works on numerous levels.

First of all, the chemistry between Sandler and co star Jennifer Aniston is great.

The storyline us very generic and cookie cutter for the genre but despite it being so predictable, I enjoyed the journey there.

Surprisingly, I also enjoyed Sandler’s performance here because his character, although eccentric, isn’t as crazy as most of his characters are.

Bottom Line – A very by the book romantic comedy that has some great moments despite its predictability. One of Sandler’s best because he doesn’t play a completely crazy character. The chemistry between Sandler and Aniston works well. Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – This is the first collaboration between Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. The two of them have known each other for 20 years, before either of them became famous. They met through some mutual friends and shared meals together. She also used to watch him perform at the Improv, and she attended his wedding in 2003. (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy

  1. I’m glad you got around to checking this out. Just Go With It works for some while other hate it with a passion. Something about the characters (the witty banter) just keeps me chuckling to this day and that’s why I watch it when I want to feel happy. 🙂
