Minions (2015)

minions“Doesn’t it feel so good to be bad? ” – Scarlett Overkill

Number of Times Seen – 1 (24 Aug 2015)

Brief Synopsis – The minions go to a villain convention in order to seek a new boss

My Take on it – I gotta admit that I wasn’t really looking forward to seeing this vmovie because it’s no secret that I wasn’t the biggest fan of either of the first two movies in the series.

But when you let your kids decide what movie to see, you have to capitulate every now and again.

I actually enjoyed this a lot and I think that has more to do with the main character focus than anything else.

The Minions are funnier and more sympathetic than Gru ever was (or can be) and that makes them more entertaining to watch.

I saw this with my 3 sons and all four of us laughed quite often at the onscreen antics.

This movie has countless references to so many other movies and their villains, and it was lots of fun for me to try and spot them.

My kids were annoyed that the Minions mostly spoke in gibberish, but I actually found them more endearing because of it since their actions actually speak much louder than any words could do justice to.

Bottom Line – Much more enjoyable than the previous two movies because it’s funnier and the Minions are more sympathetic to me than Gru ever was.  Loved the references to so many other movies and their villains.  The gibberish of the minions make them so endearing and their actions speak louder than words. Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Professor Flux at Villain Con is named after the flux capacitor from Back to the Future (1985). The flux capacitor was what made time travel possible, while Professor Flux invented the first time machine which he uses to collect future versions of himself and bring them back as his assistants. (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy
