The Phone Call (2013)

The_Phone_Call“Stan, for only knowing so much about you, I feel like…I feel like you’re my friend.” – Heather

Number of Times Seen – 1 (31 Aug 2015)

Brief Synopsis – A crisis hotline worker must try to help a man who has called

My Take on it – This movie won the Oscar for Best short film this past year and is such a simple but powerful film.

I loved how we only got to see one side of the phone conversation and had to rely on our imagination for the other side. This gives us a stronger connection to both characters.

Sally Hawkins and (the voice of) Jim Broadbent do wonders with just there phone conversation that really gets us involved.

It’s interesting how one phone conversation can change a person’s life.

Bottom Line – Excellent short film that works very well within the parameters it has set. Loved how we only get to see one side of the conversation, allowing us to us our imagination. Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Filming was completed in two days.  (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy
