“Thousands of years ago, these hunters found a backwater planet. They taught humans how to build, and were worshiped as gods. Every hundred years, the gods would return. And when they did, they would expect a sacrifice. Humans were used to breed the ultimate prey. The hunters would battle with these great serpents to prove themselves worthy to carry the mark. But if the hunters lost, they made sure nothing survived. An entire civilization wiped out overnight. ” – Sebastion

Brief Synopsis – After discovering an underground pyramid in the Antarctic, a group of scientists get mixed up in a battle between the two species of aliens.
My Take on it – It isn’t an easy task to take two completely different franchises and find a way to combine them on screen.
This movie is one of the few successes in that domain because it takes two feared aggressive races and pits them against one another.
They are truly formidable foes and we must try and chose between the three races depicted as to who we want to eventually survive.
The choice to not hire an A-list actor for the lead role was a great one because it gives us doubt as to who will survive and prevail.
If you have Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sigourney Weaver involved you know who will win, but in this movie anything can happen.
The focus of the movie stays from the perspective of the humans, but to see it from the viewpoint of the two alien races was also a good idea.
Unlike the previous movies, this one is done as a pure action thriller instead of using the Xenomorphs as a horror entity and it works well this way.
Bottom Line – Great way to combine these two franchises. Obviously the focus is on the alien races as opposed to the humans who just get in the way. A very adept crossover film that proved that it could successfully be done. Recommended!
