For this month’s next review for Genre Grandeur – Movies of the 70’s, here’s a review of Star Wars (1977) by Me.

Next month’s Genre has been chosen by me.  In honor of the month when Marty McFly came to visit us here in 2015, I have decided that we will be reviewing our favorite movies featuring time travel.

Brief Synopsis – After finding two droids with an important message that could save the galaxy, an anxious teenager joins a former knight on a quest that will change his life forever

My Take on it – When Sherise chose this genre for this month, I immediately knew which movie would appear as my all time favorite.

How could I not choose Star Wars among my favorites from the 70’s.

This is such a difficult movie to once again review because it is widely hailed as one of the few movies that just about everyone has seen it or at least heard of the story.

It was instrumental in changing the way movies were viewed in general and was also essential in particular in making the sci-fi genre a force to be reckoned with 😉 (pun intended)

Yes, Lucas has always been terrible with dialogue for his characters but the story and plot still remain so gripping and entertaining no matter how many times one sees this.

The score by John Williams is so iconic and is so recognizable. I can personally listen to it over and over and never get bored.

Not only is George Lucas a powerhouse director and producer due to this movie, but it helped launch the early careers of Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and of course Harrison Ford.

Bottom Line – Such an amazing movie that changed the face of movies in general and of sci fi adventures in particular. This is one of the movies that almost everyone has seen so there isn’t much to add. Dialogue is mediocre but the storyline and plot are superbly executed. Was essential in helping launch the three fledling careers of its stars and make Lucas a name everyone can recognize. Highly Highly Recommended!
