Number of Times Seen – 1 (15 Oct 2015)
Brief Synopsis – During one of the worst storms in New England history, a mysterious man shows up in a small Maine town and requests the unthinkable.
My Take on it – As I’ve said numerous times, King has always been a master at introducing and fleshing out so many characters in just about every story he writes.
This gives us a real intimate and personal feeling for each and every one of them and it helps keep us interested in everyone since we never know what he has in mind for all of teh characters.
This movie is a 4.5 miniseries that spends nearly 4 hours just introducing us to all of the different personalities in this small village before it hits us with a superb ending that raises so many moral and philosophical questions that you forget how long it took to get to this point.
Once again, I have not read this book, but I assume that this movie just scratches the surface of these moral dilemmas and that in the book itself it must really delve into so many great questions and conundrums.
This is done really well especially once you finally get to the meat of it all.
Bottom Line -Liked the plot of this movie, but they spent way too much time in the buildup that the great ending makes up for some lulls along the way. Great cast of characters that are expertly introduced over the course of this 4.5 hour miniseries. Not King’s best, but the places it takes us really are interesting to watch once you get past the exposition phase. Recommended!
