Brief Synopsis – Two rival magicians try to do all they can to outwit and outlast the other in order to claim the title of being the best.

My Take on it – One of the things that I love about Christopher Nolan movies is that every time you watch them, you learn more and more about the story and the plotline because he creates such intricate details in order to fool us.

He is actually like a magician and this movie makes so much sense when you realize that he Nolan uses magic tricks in all of his films.

He skillfully creates an illusion for the audience into believing something and when we finally get the reveal at the end, we notice that out expectations for the movie have been altered.

In this movie, he takes rivalry to the edge and shows what men are capable of doing when the have such a drive within them to prove that they are the best.

Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale are both superb in this movie and were excellent choices for his main protagonists because we root for both but also jeer them both because of everything that they do here to manipulate the world around them and their rivals.

The twists in this movie keep coming when least expected and you may miss a lot of them the first time around.

Like all of Nolan’s movies, one is expected to watch it multiple time in order to try and catch every nuance…but even that might not be enough.

Bottom Line – Nolan once again gives a masterful movie where he takes his characters to the edge in order to help them discover who they really are.  Great twists a la Nolan make this one that needs to be watched carefully in order to not miss anything.  Even more eye opening upon rewatching because you know what to actually look for.  Jackman and Bale are amazing ion the lead roles. Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The main characters’ initials spell ABRA (Alfred Borden Robert Angier), as in Abracadabra, a common word used by magicians. (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (no change from original review)
