Batkid Begins (2015)

batkid begins“Don’t Take No For an Answer” – Hans Zimmer

 Number of Times Seen – 1 (22 Nov 2015)

Brief Synopsis – A documentary about the unbelievably overwhelming response to a simple wish of a child suffering from Cancer that rocked the whole world.

My Take on it – Years ago, I was an avid reader of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books and a few of the stores have still been stuck in my head after all these years.

The one that I am always reminded about is “If you dont ask you dont get but if you do you do.” by Rick Gelinas.

You can read the story Here.

It’s basically all about how people want to be helpful and volunteer to do things but are usually waiting for the inspiration to do so.

While watching this movie, I was constantly reminded of that story because of all of the love and support that everyone got while making Miles’ wish a reality.

We are told of so many people who were either asked to help out with this “wish” and in the end, there were thousands upon thousands of people who donated their time, money and skills to help make this all happen.

This documentary does an amazing job showing us that the world still is filled with loving and caring people who will do whatever it takes to help out a stranger.

This movie helps restore faith in the true goodness of people and it does it in a very non-preachy way.

Writers Kurt Kuenne and Dana Nachman (who also directs) give us a wonderfully crafted movie that knows how to touch us in so many ways; there are moments where we laugh, cry and are just in awe of the true goodness in this difficult world that we all live in.

If you haven’t yet seen this, I urge you to do so because it is such an uplifting tale that works on so many levels.

Bottom Line – Amazing documentary about an event that really showed how much love there is in the world.  This movie is filled with moments of joy, tears and gratitude to the goodness of the hearts of people wishing to help make a wish come true. Highly Recommended!
