“We want to see our soldiers as strong. WE don’t want to know that they are also these vulnerable boys” – Sebastian Junger
Number of Times Seen – 1 (26 Nov 2015)
Brief Synopsis – Documentary that tells of the complex life of photojournalist Tim Hetherington who spent years documenting war torn countries up until his untimely death in Libya in 2011.
My Take on it – This movie is not just a tribute to a photojournalist who lost his life while covering a dangerous conflict.
It is also a testament and dedication to the brave men and women of this profession that day in and day out venture into dangerous conflict areas in order to help us try and understand war from a close perspective.
This movie not only gives us a perspective on his professional life but also gives us insight into why possibly someone like him became interested in joining such a profession.
It was interesting to watch the interviews with his parents and friends because it helps give us a bigger picture of who he was both personally and professionally.
The impact and influence that he had on so many things in his short life is inspiring to watch.
Being a photojournalist in combat situations is a dangerous job.
This movie also shows us the inherent dangers that these brave men and women face in order to get a better understanding of this complicated world we all live in.
Bottom Line – Great way to show the dedication of men and women like Tim who try their best to show us what happens around the world in war torn regions. Although he list his life at a young age, it’s inspiring to see the impact and influence that he had while trying to help us (and himself) better understand the world. Also emphasizes the dangers that people like him face when trying to show us the truth from as close as possible. Highly recommended!

Loved this movie. Great review, Rob. It was sad, but also inspirational. We can all do our own part to right the wrongs of the world. Journalists are also fading in this onlie world today. This doc reminds us how important these truth seeking adventurers are!
