Being that Darren and I both love watching lots and lots of movies, we decided to start a new weekly series where we challenge each other to watch a new movie that we enjoyed and feel the other one might also.
The rules are simple; it has to be a movie we have NEVER seen, (not just not reviewed)
Every Tuesday, we will both post both reviews on our sites.
Let’s hope we both can add lots of new favorites to our personal lists
For my review this week, here are my thoughts on…..
“See, you’re done with the past, but the past is not done with you. ” – Gordo
Number of Times Seen – 1 (6 Dec 2015)
Brief Synopsis – A young couple move to a new neighborhood and are greeted by an old classmate of the husband who apparently holds some kind of grudge.
My Take on it – This was a movie that I wasn’t sure how I would react to it after seeing it and needed a bit more time for it to sink in before completely understanding my thoughts on it.
I liked the fact that it asks the question of who can be considered a victim while slowly giving us more and more information as to what is really happening.
The problem here is that it starts off well but the plot gets a bit convoluted about half way through and begins to spiral downward.
The idea of switching the viewer’s allegiances back and forth works well.
Ultimately though, this is a thriller that keeps you guessing from start to finish and makes you still think about the story long after you’ve finished watching it.
Bottom Line – This movie started off well and at about the halfway mark began to spiral downward and doesn’t fully recover despite numerous attempts. Actually liked the dark tones and the way the story keeps flipping back and forth with who we should be rooting for. Really asks the question of who can be considered a victim. Keeps you guessing from start to finish and beyond! Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – As he wanted to focus on directing, Edgerton filmed his own scenes as Gordo two weeks into shooting and completed them in seven days. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy

Great review! I loved this one, it really played on my mind long after watching. I thought it was so clever how it made us question who the bad guy really is.
