3 Men and a Baby (1987)

3 men“[singing] Hush little baby, don’t you cry. When Peter gets home, I’m gonna punch him in the eye. ” – Michael

Number of Times Seen – Between 5-10 times (Theater in ’87, cable, video and 12 Jan 2016)

Brief Synopsis – Three bachelors must learn to take care of a baby that is abandoned at their doorstep by a former lover of one of the men.

My Take on it – I have always found it extremely interesting to view certain movies at different points in life and to see how my opinions have evolved.

This movie is a perfect example of that feeling.

I probably haven’t seen this film in nearly 25 years and since then, I have personally experienced fatherhood and have a much better understanding of what the characters are going thru than I did when I first saw it as a 13 year old.

I am even willing to say that the chances are extremely high that I enjoyed this movie more now than I did back then.

I don’t know who chose the cast for this movie, but the idea to have Magnum PI, Sam Malone and Carey Mahoney play three bachelor roommates was a superb one.

They even perfectly chose each character for their respective actor to play and they seem to fit very well.

The subplot with the “package” doesn’t work as well, but it helps add some laughs to the storyline.

Bottom Line – Even better than I recalled.  Interesting to watch a movie like this after experiencing fatherhood.  Three leads are perfect together and for their respective roles. Very interesting to see Magnum, Sam and Mahoney working so well together. Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The highest-grossing movie of 1987 in the United States. (From IMDB)
