“If bachlorette number one isn’t out here in half a tick I’m gonna ice bachlorette number two, got it? ” – Willy
Number of Times Seen – at least 5 times (cable in the 80’s and 12 Jan 2016)
Brief Synopsis – The morning after a mysterious comet appears in the sky, two teenage girls must find a way to survive when almost everyone on the planet disappears.
My Take on it – As many of you probably know by now, I’m a big fan of 80’s movies because I grew up on HBO and cable TV of that decade.
Revisiting most of them now, do them no justice, but sometimes… sometimes, it can pay off.
I have been meaning to rewatch this film for years and finally got the urge to see what the 42 year old in me thinks of a movie I loved as a teen.
I found this to be a very nostalgic watch for me because I recalled certain scenes and drew a complete blank on others.
Regardless, it was a fun movie to revisit mainly because it really IS pure 80’s.
The style, the script, the cheesy dialogue, the costumes and of course the music just screams 1980’s!! and what child of the 80’s wouldn’t want to go back to that time to experience parts of it again.
I think the key to enjoying this film is that you watch it at the right time while having the right frame if mind.
My good friend Mutant over at Cinema Parrot Disco will be happy to know that this movie was soooo much better than Hardware (1990) 🙂
Bottom Line – Not as good as I recall, but still a fun watch. VERY 80’s in style, dialogue, wardrobe and of course music. Fun idea that works if you’re in the right mind frame. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Joss Whedon has cited this film as a “big influence” for his original film script of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992), which is rebooted in his television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997). (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy
