This is my 1,993rd movie review
Thanks to Anna for recommending this film to me!
“You don’t know anything about anything; none of you. Nothing! ” – Mary
Number of Times Seen – 1 (7 Feb 2016)
Brief Synopsis – An orphaned girl moves to England to live with an uncle and starts a friendship with some children living on the estate which helps her open up more.
My Take on it – This is a movie I had heard about but didn’t think I’d ever like, so I steered clear of it.
When Anna chose it, I was actually quite happy that I’d finally been given a reason to see what it was about despite not having very high expectations.
Boy was I wrong.
I really really enjoyed this movie and the way that the story was presented to us.
The characters were slowly introduces and they slowly opened up to one another and to us which gave us an even better understand of who they are and why they act the way they do.
The story gets quite emotional in some scenes and the story as a whole is very moving.
The themes touched upon leave us all with so much to ponder afterwards because they are so relavent to each and every one of us.
We get to see love, loss, friendships and belief in finding a way to better ourselves and those things (and people) around us.
The cast is filled with very young talented actors who breathe so much life into their characters which makes the story that much more believable for us to absorb.
The scenery and attention to detail is wonderful.
Bottom Line – Very moving and emotional story about love, loss, friendships and of course belief in making things better. Excellent young cast helps make the story even more believable. The scenery is brilliant as is the attention to detail all around. Highly Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Elijah Wood was turned down for the role of Colin. (From IMDB)
Rating – Oscar Worthy
