This is my 2,013th movie review
Thanks to Boaz for recommending this film to me!
“Dear God, it’s me, Jonah Hill… from Moneyball. ” – Jonah Hill
Number of Times Seen – 1 (16 Feb 2016)
Brief Synopsis – The Apatow actors playing versions of their real selves are trapped in a house after the world seems to have come to the end.
My Take on it – How could I have missed this one beforehand?
I have been a fan of just about all of these actors for years.
The idea to create a movie where they all play extreme versions of themselves was a great idea especially because they all seem to be having so much fun doing it.
Because they have almost all worked together in the past, they use that history to work off each other and give us the feeling that they all really are friends and that if this kind of event were to occur, they would act exactly like this together.
The whole premise is very extreme and there are scenes where they go a bit too far, but it’s thoroughly entertaining regardless because this is what makes it fun to sit through.
The real clincher for me tho, was the final scene which they did soooo well. It’s all far from perfect, but still extremely fun to watch.
Bottom Line – Amazing cast that seem to love to parody themselves here. They all work so well off one another that it raises the bar here. The whole premise is quite extreme but that’s part of what makes the story work and be so fun to watch. Absolutely loved the way the final scene was presented. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Evan Goldberg created a game for himself during filming. The goal of the game was to get as many cast members as possible to say, “No I can’t do that” or get them to refuse to do something. According to him, the only people he wasn’t able to break were James Franco and Seth Rogen. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy
