“Everyone has their secrets, she just seemed to have more than most.”- Alistair
Number of Times Seen – 1 (17 Feb 2016)
Brief Synopsis – A documentary that tries to understand how a talented woman with lots of friends laid dead in her apartment in front of the TV for three years without anyone noticing.
My Take on it – I had never heard of this film until my good (blogging) friends Jane and Laura (thanks ladies!) suggested that I watch it because it’s so powerful.
I was totally shocked as I watched this story unfold.
It seems so unbelievable that such a thing can happen, but apparently and unfortunately it has.
The interviews were so revealing because the film makers were able to tell them things that they had no clue about despite being friends with her for years. The shock on almost every one of their faces tells so much.
The lesson for us all is to cherish our friendships and do all we can to make sure things like this don’t keep happening
Bottom Line – Such a scary concept that makes you question how such a thing can happen. The interviews with friends shows the shock they all experience as they learn new things about their now-deceased friend. Very tragic to believe that such a thing can happen, but unfortunately it has and we all must do whatever we can to try and make sure things like this don’t keep occurring. Highly Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – When the police forensics team begin looking around Joyce’s flat, at one point her television is seen, on top of which is a statue of a women, appearing to be made of wood. Later on in the film, when Joyce’s friends begin discussing her mother, they speak over a flashback of her mother and Joyce as a young girl, the same statue can be seen on a mantelpiece in the background. (From IMDB)
Rating – Oscar Worthy

The girl from Fresh Meat stars in this. Remember thinking how sad this film must have been to make.

It’s a sort of comedy drama (more comedy) show that focuses on a bunch of uni students.

Yeah, it probably hasn’t travelled well, but it has helped kick start a few careers.

Charlotte Ritchie, Jack Whitehall and Simon Thomas have been able to do a lot more comedy out of it.

I’m so glad you found this as touching as I did. This one really got under my skin. She seemed, from the words of her friends, to be such a vibrant young woman. But troubled too. Scary how someone who once seemed so connected can disappear from view and nor be noticed.

I know! Really makes you think. And yeah, the same woman. Her scenes with Howard are among my favourite.
