Irrational Man (2015)

irrational “Anxiety is the dizziness of freedom.” – Abe

Number of Times Seen – 1 (28 Feb 2016)

Brief Synopsis – A philosophy professor tries to find a way to get his “mojo” back after he falls into a creative and social rut

My Take on it – I’ve never really been the biggest Woody Allen fan and I found this one to be quite average both in terms of the script and the way the story unfolds.

Joaquin Pheonix and Emma Stone are both great actors, but they seem to be going thru the motions here with very little enthusiasm.

About half-way through, their characters both get really annoying and I just didn’t care any more about what was going to happen to either of them.

The premise overall is interested, I just think that the execution was lacking a bit and therefore

Bottom Line – Woody Allen writes and directs an ok script. Found Pheonix and Stone annoying part way through, but interesting premise non-the-less.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Joaquin Phoenix gained 33 pounds for the role on his own, because he thought the character would look like that.  (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy
