Brief Synopsis – Documentary about the effects of PTSD on US Soldiers over the past 150 years
My Take on it – I really enjoyed watching this movie because it gives us so much information about a subject that is rarely talked about.
Young men and women are sent to fight wars, but no one really makes sure that they can handle the effects.
Unfortunately, this movie is only slightly more than an hour and feels too incomplete due to such a rich and comprehensive subject matter.
I have always been awed by James Gandolfini’s commitment to furthering many veteran’s issues and he was able to produce some great documentaries over the years.
The stories told here are very heartbreaking and it doesn’t matter whether they are letters being read from soldiers from the Civil War or WWI, or interviews with vets from WWII, Korea, Vietnam or The Gulf War, the impact is felt.
I wish that this was longer and more comprehensive.
Bottom Line – Great film, but feels very incomplete because the subject matter is so comprehensive. Love how Gandolfini really got involved with veteran issues and produced some really great docs like this one. Some of these stories are truly heartbreaking and it’s too bad this film is so short. Recommended!
