Number of Times Seen – at least 2 (Cable in the 90’s and 17 Mar 2016)
Brief Synopsis – After a famous rock star is killed and a list of further celebrities slated for death surfaces, Dirty Harry is on the case to find out who is behind it all.
My Take on it – I’m actually glad that this was the final movie of the Dirty Harry series because it borders on mediocre, but it still isn’t a complete waste of time, so they were able to stop before it got terrible.
It definitely has some high points (the car chase, the spearhead and a very young Jim Carrey) but the low points unfortunately out balance them.
The supporting cast of Jim Carrey, Liam Neeson and Patricia Clarkson must have been easy to get back then, but im sure it would cost a whole lot more to get them together along with Clint Eastwood now.
The idea of the ‘game’ is definitely an interesting one.
I love the fact that the name of the comic book hero Deadpool was inspired by this film.
Bottom Line – Definitely a mediocre entry in the series. It has its high points, but mostly low ones.Great to see Liam Neeson, Jim Carrey and Patricia Clarkson in roles before they became famous. Love how the movie’s title inspired the name for the character of the superhero Deadpool.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Reportedly, when Jim Carrey came in to audition for Clint Eastwood for this film, he did not do one of his scenes from this movie, but instead did his Vegas Elvis Presley act, which cracked up Eastwood and his colleagues. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy
