“I had another Liam Neeson nightmare. I kidnapped his daughter and he just wasn’t having it. They made three of those movies. At some point you have to wonder if he’s just a bad parent.” – Wade Wilson
Number of Times Seen – 1 (27 Mar 2016)
Brief Synopsis – A former mercenary endowed with super powers tries to find those responsible for ruining his life
My Take on it – I may be a bit late to the party here but this was such a great superhero movie.
They were able to get the perfect mix of comedy action and drama to give so much satisfaction in all three levels.
This film is so much fun that you really don’t want it to end (hence the scene after the credits).
Ryan Reynolds was the perfect choice for the role of Deadpool and even he was willing to make fun of himsrkf and his past movie choices. He is able to set the perfect tone for the character and we know he had fun making this movie.
It’s truly unbelievable the amount of pop culture references peppered throughout from start to finish. I understood a lot of them but I’m sure there were so many more that I missed.
I’m really excited to see this one again and of course for all of the upcoming sequels that this movie will spawn.
Once again proof that an R-Rated superhero movie can do extremely well at the box office.
Bottom Line – Great mix of action and comedy. Such a fun superhero movie that you don’t want to end. Reynolds is perfect in the title role. Amazing amount of pop culture references from start to finish. Can’t wait for the sequel. Highly recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In the trailer and in the film, Wade Wilson requests, “Don’t make the super suit green–or animated!” This is a reference to Ryan Reynolds’ previous role as the DC superhero Green Lantern (2011), in which, as stated, the green suit was a special effect rather than an actual costume for Reynolds to put on. This is also a crude reference to that film’s director, Martin Campbell, who he did not get along with. (From IMDB)
Rating – Oscar Worthy
